MD Explorer for Herts Air Ambulance

The people of Hertfordshire are getting their own dedicated air ambulance service this autumn and Herts Air Ambulance have selected air ambulance operator and MD Helicopters distributor Medical Aviation Services Ltd (MAS) to provide the MD 902 Explorer.

The aircraft selection was confirmed at a formal contract signing last Thursday by Rob Forsyth Trustee of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT) and Henk Schaeken, Managing Director of MAS.

Cliff Gale, Air Operations Manager for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust said, “The aircraft will be fully equipped for all of the vital air ambulance work we will be undertaking in Hertfordshire with the East of England Ambulance Service Trust.  We are very pleased to be working in partnership with Medical Aviation Services for the future of the Herts Air Ambulance and are looking forward to the official launch of the service later this year.”

The helicopter which will be registered G-HAAT is currently being prepared for service at the company’s Gloucestershire Airport base and will bring the number of UK based Explorers currently operating in the air ambulance role in the UK to ten.
