The role

Job purpose

To fulfil the duties of a single-pilot company commander delivering HEMS by day, night and NVIS.

Key responsibilities

  • The provide safe, compliant and efficient flight operations in support of 19hr HEMS operations.
  • Be responsible for the safety of all crewmembers, passengers and cargo on board.
  • Conduct company duties with diligence and professionalism, and operate in accordance with the company operations manual and other regulatory requirements.
  • Be responsible for actively engaging with the company safety reporting scheme, taking a pro-active stance on risk management, reporting all reportable occurrences, and reporting any other events which may contribute towards continual improvement in safety.
  • Display kindness and professionalism whilst acting as a representative of the Company and actively engage with our charity partners and other industry stakeholders.

Health and Safety

  • Understand individual operational safety and security responsibilities
  • Be aware of personal health and safety and the health and safety of others at work 

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Flight Experience:

  • EASA CPL(H) or ATPL(H)
  • 2000hrs hours total flying time in helicopters, of which
    • 1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500 hours are as pilot in command on twin turbine helicopters, or
    • 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS operations of which 500 hours are as pilot-in-command under supervision, and 100 hours unsupervised pilot-in-command of helicopters
  • ME IR(H) with 100hrs IFR experience
  • 500hrs VFR over-land experience
  • Class 1 unrestricted medical

Desirable Flight Experience:

  • AW169 or MD902


  • Possess strong IT skills and experience of working with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Power point
  • Five GCSEs or equivalent, including A* - C in English and Maths
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Willingness to work out of normal working hours if required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to work
  • Confident, approachable and enthusiastic
  • Accurate, numerate and excellent attention to detail
  • Team player with the ability to work with a degree of autonomy
  • Flexibility to travel when required
