The Safety Manager is responsible for the effective administration of the SMS and safety initiatives across SAS and acts as a knowledge source to the management team on matters of the SMS and safety performance.

 

The Safety Manager is responsible for:

  • The implementation, development, administration and maintenance of all aspects of the SMS including documentation.
  • Facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis and the identification and implementation of mitigating measures.
  • Ensure the effective coordination of safety management activities across the organisation.
  • To support the development of an effective safe and just culture and to develop and implement safety initiatives and campaigns.
  • To develop and produce statistical reports and indicators on the organisation’s safety performance.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of SAS occurrence reporting and investigation processes.
  • Ensure that all safety related incidents, occurrences and events are subjected to detailed and thorough investigation to establish root cause and to identify threats and barriers involved.
  • Ensure that SMS training requirements are identified across SAS and the training provided meets acceptable standards.
